Unmasking Diet Culture:
Exposing the Harmful Narratives

We grow up believing that Diet Culture is built on science and fact. But it's not. It's a story. Built on narratives that keep us striving for an impossible goal, wield weight stigma like a carrot and a stick to keep us hustling for our belonging, and isolate us from ourselves and each other by shaping which emotions and conversations are socially acceptable.

These harmful false narratives are crafted to trap your clients in cycles of shame and self-blame. This training invites you to see them for what they really are and examine their impact on your clients.

You’ll leave with a workbook of tools to help you ask better questions, listen to your clients with greater discernment and compassion, and personal reflection questions to help you explore the ways that these narratives have shaped you and may even be showing up in your practice.

Location: Virtual over Zoom

Time: 90 mins including Q&A

Therapist FAQs

What does it mean to provide weight-inclusive care? Weight-inclusive care shifts the focus from weight or BMI to overall well-being, autonomy, and respect. It's a form of body liberation and means recognizing the harms of weight stigma and helping clients build self-trust, not control, as they relate to food, body, and health.

How can Intuitive Eating concepts support my therapeutic work? Intuitive Eating offers language and tools that complement therapy—it helps clients connect with interoceptive awareness, challenge shame-based cultural narratives and internalized weight stigma, and practice self-compassion and autonomy. These skills often deepen body image work, trauma recovery, and self-esteem interventions already happening in therapy. The freedom of choice, celebration of differentiation, and dignity inherent in the Anti-Diet paradigm can deepen the trust and safety of your therapeutic relationship.

What trainings or resources do you offer for clinicians? I offer workshops and downloadable toolkits that introduce the foundations of weight-inclusive, anti-diet practice—along with reflection guides, client-facing worksheets, and discussion prompts. My Unmasking Diet Culture training helps clinicians recognize Diet Culture narratives in themselves and when they come up in therapy so that they can respond with curiosity, compassion, and research-backed information.

Are CEUs or continuing-education credits available? Not yet—but I’m actively working toward offering trainings that qualify for CE credits. In the meantime, clinicians can still count my workshops and materials toward personal or peer-consultation learning hours.

Do your trainings include faith-based content? Most trainings are secular and research-based. Some workshops (clearly marked) include optional reflection for clinicians working in faith-informed settings or with Christian clients. You can choose whichever version aligns with your practice.

Can you collaborate with my practice or team? Yes! I love partnering with group practices, agencies, and clinician communities. Collaboration can include staff workshops, resource development, lunch-and-learns, or mutual referral networks that support clients’ holistic care.

What’s the difference between your coaching and therapy? Coaching supports growth and skill-building around food, body, and self-trust. It’s educational and action-focused—not treatment for mental-health diagnoses. When clients need clinical support, I refer to or collaborate with therapists who align with weight-inclusive and trauma-informed values.

How can I refer clients to you? You can direct clients to Eat-Intuit.com or send a warm introduction email to me directly at Coach@Eat-Intuit.com. I’m always happy to discuss how coaching and therapy can complement each other.
