Damara Loewen

Certified Intuitive Eating Coach

I’m an Intuitive Eating Coach which means that I help people make peace with food, rebuild trust with their body and find freedom from the snare of Diet Culture.

For years, I lived under Diet Culture's illusion that I could perfectly control my weight and my “health”. Only to end up living stressed out, over-exercised, undernourished and in treatment for an eating disorder called Orthorexia.

Through my own recovery and my professional training as both a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor and a Western Seminary Certified Coach, I’ve learned that true well-being isn’t found in control or conformity, but in attunement with our bodies and a reclaiming of our God-given autonomy.

I'm committed to an Anti-Diet, Weight-Inclusive,  justice-oriented approach.

I believe we can’t fully return to the peaceful, trusting relationship with food and body we were born with until we face—and unlearn—the weight stigma and Diet Culture myths we’ve absorbed along the way.

My role is to meet you where you are, help you reconnect with your body’s wisdom, and support you in healing the stories that shape how you relate to food, your body, and your worth.

My Approach

You're probably used to Diet Culture's narratives. Where your body is the problem and the solution is you eating and exercising right. Where you're responsible for controlling your weight and your health.

I do things a little different around here.

My Anti-Diet approach doesn't put all the pressure on you to eat or exercise a certain way. Instead, we focus on attuning to your body and reclaiming your autonomy to make your own choices. Recognizing that our food and exercise aren't actually major determinants of our weight or health.

My Weight-Inclusive approach calls out Diet Culture's anti-fat bias and weight stigma as the problems. Not your weight or your body. This is rooted in the truth that our body is designed to take care of us - including working to save our lives by resisting weight loss.

My approach is compassionate, curious, and educational. We unlearn and relearn together.

Some clients choose to integrate a progressive Christian lens where, together, we invite God into your relationship with food, body and exercise.

Others prefer a secular framework where we focus simply on restoring body trust and intuitive connection. I serve clients of all identities and faith backgrounds, and my work is grounded in dignity, compassion, and autonomy.

While faith often informs the language and imagery I use, my coaching is inclusive and accessible to anyone seeking freedom from food rules and the pressures of the "thin ideal".

Whether you identify as Christian or not, you’re welcome here.
