For Parents

As parents we want our kids to have a healthy relationship with food. Yet parenting around food can feel complicated—especially in a culture that tells us our kids’ worth (and our success as parents) depends on their size, shape, or how “healthy” they eat.

Using an Anti-Diet, Weight-Inclusive approach I help parents create homes where food feels normal, bodies are respected, and kids grow up knowing they are good just as they are.

I help parents build a positive, peaceful food environment so their kids can develop body trust and confidence at every size.

Parent Coaching

Parent Coaching focuses on supporting your child’s relationship with food and body—helping you create a home where all foods fit and all bodies belong.

Is Parent Coaching Right For You?

Some parents come for focused support around a specific concern—like a pediatrician’s comment, school weigh-ins, or mealtime power struggles. Others stay for a season of deeper work—restoring peace at the table and confidence in their family’s relationship with food and body.

  • Explore your own food and body story so you can model peace, not pressure.

  • Build practical, compassionate tools for creating a home where all foods fit and all bodies belong.

  • Shift from control to connection, helping your child develop autonomy, confidence, and body trust.

  • Clarify your family’s values by sifting through Diet Culture’s influence and deciding what truly matters to you.

Parent FAQs

What is parent Coaching, and how is it different from family therapy? Parent Coaching focuses on learning, reflection, and practical tools—not mental-health diagnosis or treatment. We’ll explore your family’s relationship with food and body, unpack the influence of Diet Culture, and build confidence and connection at home.

How is Parent Coaching different from Individual Intuitive Eating Coaching? Both types of Coaching are rooted in the principles of Intuitive Eating and body trust, but the focus and goals are different. Parent Coaching focuses on ways that you can support your child’s relationship with food and body—helping you create a home where all foods fit and all bodies belong. Individual Intuitive Eating Coaching centers on your own healing and body trust journey. Some parents start with family-focused work, then move into personal coaching as they’re ready to go deeper.

Do you work with my child directly, or just with parents? I primarily work with parents, because your influence is the most powerful factor in shaping your child’s relationship with food and body. Supporting you helps your whole family. If direct work with your child ever makes sense, we’ll talk through the best approach together.

My child’s doctor says they need to lose weight—can this still help us? Yes. Many parents come to me after hearing similar advice. We’ll unpack those recommendations with care, look at the research around weight and health, and explore ways to support your child’s well-being without focusing on weight, restriction, or shame.

What if I still have my own Diet Culture thoughts? That’s completely okay—you don’t have to have this all figured out first. We’ll gently notice where Diet Culture still shows up for you and find ways to respond with curiosity, not self-blame. The goal isn’t perfection—it’s awareness, compassion, and freedom.

How old do my kids need to be for this to help? This approach helps at any age—whether you’re raising a toddler learning hunger cues or a teen navigating social media and body image. It's never too late to start, but earlier you begin modeling body trust and food peace, the stronger that foundation becomes.

What does a typical session look like? Sessions are one hour long. They are conversational and personalized. We’ll reflect on what’s been coming up at home, review tools or exercises, and identify a few practical shifts to try between sessions. Most parents describe it as equal parts learning, relief, and finding new language for old challenges.

Can my partner or co-parent join sessions? Yes. Many parents attend together so they can align language, boundaries, and shared values around food and body conversations. We can decide together what structure will best serve your family’s needs.

How much does parent coaching cost? Each one-hour session is $80, with a few sliding-scale spots available. You can start with a single session or a short-term plan based on your family’s needs and goals.
